The Hill Road Track.

(It is a bit overgrown in places, needs careful navigation) 18-1-09

based on Bill Stephensons description, expanded by Doug Flux

Start from the first left hand bend in Hill Rd above Belmont Tce (the place where the footpath deviates from the road and there is a patch of grass where the road workers hut used to be). There is a rough track going from there down the spur to the creek. It is a bit steep and overgrown. Drop down to the right to avoid climbing up to the knoll. Where the track meets the stream, you will find a benched track on the true right of the stream 7 or 8 metres above the water.  This can be followed to the Belmont Stream / Speedy's Creek confluence. From there it is possible to go up the spur, presumably now following the Pareraho track, to the plateau where the pa was. The pest baiters keep the spur open from time to time.  If you take the left hand option at each track junction, you will eventually arrive at the headwall of an old landslip. Above the slip is a T junction. The left hand option continues up the gulley to the ridge which is a bit gorsey.  It drops steeply into a bushy gully open under the canopy with loose rocks underfoot. Follow the  pink markers down past the bait stations to the Belmont stream. Head across the stream then back across it. The track drops down a steep bank to cross the Belmont stream again. Just when the track enters the grassy area there is a junction on the right which goes up to Hill Road (between 130 and 134), following down the stream for 100 metres gets to the swimming hole.
